The Gastonia Police Department is pleased to announce that it will be hosting the 6th Annual Sniper Conference on October 23rd-27th, 2012, at the Gastonia Police Firearms Training Facility, off Tulip Drive in Gastonia, NC. This five day marksmanship competition, attended by some of the world’s best law enforcement and military sniper teams, is one of only a handful of nationwide sniper competitions for elite sniper teams used to combat terrorism, drug trafficking and hostage-taking.
Last year’s four-day competition was a huge success and exceeded our expectations with thirty eight teams, from across the nation and well over 2000 spectators. Participants walked away with valuable training and over $65,000 in prizes.
This year we plan to increase our team participation and our spectator numbers with additional workshops for law enforcement and the continuation of the civilian shoot events. Also, to help ensure vendor success at the event we will be modifying and increasing the awareness of the Vendor Area and sponsorship marketing before, during and after the event.
This will only be possible with the support of business owners like yourselves. Merchandise donated will be given as prizes to the teams who compete in the event. A portion of the money raised will be used to pay the conference expenses, modify the range facility for this or future conferences and purchase supplies for the event. The net proceeds will go to our Police Foundation to support police programs.
