Congratulations to the Brunswick County Sheriff's Department for coming in 1st Place!
Seventeen public safety sniper teams competed for top honors in the Gastonia Police Department's First Annual Police Sniper Team Compeition. The event ran from April 5-7, 2007, at the Gastonia Police Firearms & Training Center in Gastonia, North Carolina. The marksmanship competition was three days of challenging events ranging from COLD BORE SHOTS to engaging MOVING TARGETS. Ranges were from 35 to more than 700 yards. Prizes from local and national sponsors were given to winning teams in each event as well as grand prizes for the overall winner.

A FUN SHOT event was held on Friday morning. This was not part of the overall scored events, but rather an opportunity for compeitors to test their skill on a target posted over 700 yards away! The best shot qualified for a chance to win a two year lease on a new Ford F-150 Pick-up provided by Tindol Ford. All participants enjoyed the event but missed the opportunity to take home the prize.

More than 1,000 people, including participants, judges and spectators atteneded the event. We would like to once again thank all of our sponsors and hope that they will come back next year. Becasues of our sponsors, competitors where able to walk away with over $35,000 in prizes and gifts. A special thanks is extened to Lieutenant Colonel Norman Chandler, USMS (retired) who attended the event.
